A pedestrian, a police cruiser and a school bus were involved in a pair of related accidents this morning in Chatham. Fortunately, it appears no one was seriously injured.
Police say about 6:20 a.m., a pedestrian was hit by a vehicle as she was crossing the street at the intersection of Lacroix and Richmond Streets. The 53-year-old pedestrian suffered minor injuries.
No charges were laid.
An officer on the scene assisting with the investigation had parked his cruiser behind the first officer on the scene. A westbound car on Richmond Street hit a school bus turning north onto Lacroix Street. The car then hit the police cruiser.
There were no children on the bus when it was hit. The officer was in his cruiser.
A 43-year-old Chatham woman was taken to hospital as a precaution, and the officer wasn’t hurt.
Total damage in the accident is estimated at $18,000.
The collision remains under investigation.
