Police had to call in the dogs, well, dog, to track down a couple of suspects early this morning.

Chatham-Kent police say an officer on patrol spotted a couple sitting in a vehicle parked in a driveway on Riverview Drive in Chatham shortly after midnight. When the officer turned around to investigate, the pair fled at a high rate of speed.

They eventually drove into a field off Riverview Line near Dillon Road and fled on foot.

Police say officers set up a perimeter and called in police dog Arry to track the suspects. The dog led police to a barn, in which the pair was found.

The vehicle, it turns out, was reported stolen in Chatham on Friday.

A 37-year-old man and a 22-year-old woman, both of Chatham, are charged with theft of a motor vehicle and possession of stolen property.

Police say the man also faces a charge of failing to comply, while the woman was found to be in possession of methamphetamine and faces a drug possession charge as well.
