Chatham-Kent police, responding to a complaint, found a man hiding in the bushes on St. Clair Street on Sunday, drinking booze.
Police say they received information about a man harassing people near a business on St. Clair Street. When officers investigated, they found the guy sipping away in the bushes.
The man falsely identified himself to the officers, police say, but through investigation they learned his real identity.
They also learned that he was bound by several conditions. One of those was to not drink alcohol. Another was to not attend any LCBO store, and a third was to notify Waterloo Regional Police of any change of address.
Police add that he has also been involved in a number of previous incidents in Chatham where he falsely identified himself.
A 36-year-old man of no fixed address is charged with breach of probation, two counts of failing to comply and three counts of obstructing police.
