A Dresden man is facing weapons charges following a dispute Monday night.
Police say a man went to the residence of a Dresden family known to him. An argument broke out and it escalated to the point the man swung a steak knife towards the homeowner.
The man followed that up by using the knife to slash two tires on the homeowner’s vehicle, police said, before he fled the area.
On Tuesday night, officers arrested a 23-year-old Dresden man and charged him with assault with a weapon, possession of a weapon dangerous to the public, and mischief.

Shoplifting
Around 6:00 p.m. last night, police responded to Walmart in Chatham in regards to a shoplifting complaint.
Through investigation, police identified a man and woman responsible for thefts at Walmart, LCBO and Pet Smart.
The man fled in a vehicle southbound on St. Clair Street. Police initiated a traffic stop and the man was taken into custody. He was found to be in possession of stolen items from Walmart and LCBO, along with a small bag of cocaine.
The 27-year-old Moraviantown man was arrested and charged with two counts of being in possession of property obtained by a crime under $5000 and drug possession. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
The 51-year-old Chatham woman fled on foot and was taken into custody on St. Clair Street. She has been charged with three counts of theft under $5000 and three counts of being in possession of property obtained by a crime under $5000. She was released pending a future court date of June 19, 2018.
Man Charged with Breaching Release Conditions
On May 25, 2018 the man was released from Court with several conditions. Two of those conditions stated that he was to reside at a specific address in Wallaceburg and notify police in writing 24 hours before any change in address.
On May 27, 2018, police attended the man’s residence to conduct a compliance check. At this time, the officer learned that the man was not living there nor did he notify police of his new address.
Early this morning, police located the man and he was arrested. The 35-year-old man of no fixed address has been charged with two counts of failing to comply. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
Break and Enter in Chatham
Sometime late Monday night or early Tuesday morning, unknown suspect(s) entered an unlocked residence on Patteson Avenue and stole a set of keys and wallet.

Theft of Bicycles in Ridgetown
Sometime between Monday at 4:00 p.m. and Tuesday at 9:00 a.m. unknown suspect(s) forced their way into a storage unit on Erie Street North and stole two touring bicycles valued at $600.

Motor Vehicle Collisions
Yesterday afternoon, emergency crews responded to a two vehicle collision on McNaughton Avenue near Reaume Avenue in Wallaceburg. A 27-year-old Wallaceburg woman was transported to Sydenham District Hospital with minor injuries. A 23-year-old Wilkesport man was charged with making a turn not in safety.
Yesterday afternoon, police responded to a two vehicle collision on Wheeler Line near Davidson Road in Tilbury. Minor injuries were reported. Total damage was estimated at $6000. A 22-year-old Chatham man was charged with careless driving.
Last night, police responded to a two vehicle collision on Keil Drive South near Richmond Street in Chatham. No one was injured. Total damage was estimated at $25,000. A 21-year-old Chatham woman was charged with making a left turn while failing to afford reasonable opportunity to avoid a collision.
