Remember back in early February when a Wallaceburg boy was attacked by two dogs? Well, the dog owner now faces charges.
On Feb. 5, two young children and their babysitter were tobogganing in Jaycee Park on Larkwood Street in Wallaceburg when two dogs escaped their home and attacked the youngest kid.
Two adults ran to the park to help. A six-year-old boy ran to safety while the three-year-old victim was taken to a nearby home and 911 was called.
The boy was taken by ambulance to Sydenham District Hospital and later transferred to a Michigan hospital for further medical treatment.
He has since been released from hospital.
The babysitter suffered non-life-threatening injuries in the attack, and was treated at hospital afterwards and released, police say.
The dogs were identified and seized by PAWR. Through the investigation, it was discovered that these dogs had previously attacked two other dogs.
Both dogs involved in the park attack have been euthanized.
On March 23, officers arrested the dogs’ owner.
A 35-year-old Wallaceburg woman is charged with criminal negligence causing bodily harm.
In the US a pit bull kills a person every 12 days. They are weapons that can pull their own trigger. If the neighbors were turning a blind eye to the pit bulls, they are complicit, since pit bulls are banned in Ontario. Their inaction contributed to the attack.
Glad to hear the owner has been charged.
