The first registration session for free cat spay/neuter operations by Pet and Wildlife Rescue, sponsored by PetSmart Charities of Canada, drew a crowd over the weekend. Myriam Armstrong, operations manager for PAWR, said people lined up an hour early, and at one point the line snaked back through the aisles of PetSmart. “It looked like a rock ticket lineup,” Armstrong said. The next registration sessions take place at the Wallaceburg animal shelter on Feb. 16 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. and Feb. 22 at the Ridgetown library from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. A total of 250 local cats will receive the free procedure, thanks to a donation of $14,500.
