Yes, it’s cold outside, but it’s going to get colder in the short term.

So cold in fact that Environment Canada has issued an extreme cold warning for the region for tonight into Friday, and Friday night into Saturday.

These warnings are issued when the temperature or wind chill is expected to reach -30C for at least two hours. Overnight lows tonight and Friday night are targeted to drop below the -20C mark, with the winds adding another -10C to conditions.

The Chatham-Kent Public Health Unit reminds residents that such icy conditions put everyone at risk for hypothermia and frostbite.

Dress for the conditions and minimize skin exposure to the extreme cold.

Conditions will warm up Sunday and Monday, with temperatures expected to reach -1C Sunday and slightly above the freezing mark Monday.
