Just a reminder that there is the Build the Barrier town hall meeting tonight, hosted by local MPP Rick Nicholls.

The event takes place at 7 p.m. at the Active Lifestyle Centre on Merritt Avenue in Chatham.

Nicholls, MPP for Chatham-Kent Essex, supports the idea of placing concrete barriers along Highway 401 in Chatham-Kent and Elgin County.

The meeting will be an opportunity to share information and discuss this issue with experts in 401 road safety. This includes local law enforcement, first responders, trucking associations and more. There will also be a portion of the evening dedicated to next steps and how to help.

There have been a total of five fatalities and 10 serious hospitalizations in accidents on Highway 401 between Tilbury and London in the last six months, along with numerous accidents that caused significant property damage and road closures, but did not require hospitalization.
