Just follow the broken beer bottles.

That’s how police tracked down which local business got broken into this morning.

Just before 5 a.m., police say they received a call regarding a suspicious man riding a bike and pulling a wooden dolly stacked with several cases of beer on Charing Cross Road near Seventh Line.

Officers tracked down the man and learned he had about 10 cases of empties on his dolly. The officers, police say, found broken bottles leading back to the South Side Tap and Grill, where they discovered a shed had been entered.

A search of the man yielded a chequebook in the name of residents on Charing Cross Road. Police say the owners did not give anyone permission to be in possession of their cheques.

A 25-year-old Sarnia man is charged with break and enter and two counts of property obtained by crime.
