The Municipality of Chatham-Kent announced the recent recruitment of Jim Blake to the position of Communications Officer.

Blake has more than three decades of local media experience, most recently with The Chatham Voice. A founding director of the Canadian Managing Editors’ Association and former Governor of the National Newspaper Awards, he has been honoured by several media organizations.

As a member of the community, Blake has been a chair of the United Way Campaign and has raised funds for numerous community groups and charities including the Canadian Cancer Society, Chatham-Kent Health Alliance and others.

He is currently a board member of the Chatham-Kent Women’s Centre and the Foundation of the Chatham-Kent Children’s Treatment Centre.

“We are very excited to have Mr. Blake join our team. The communications role is vital to our transparency and sharing of information at the municipal level. His depth of experience and solid relationships in the community will help us better shape our communicating efforts,” Chief Administrative Officer Don Shropshire said.

Blake will be joining the CK team starting Oct. 17.

“I’m excited to be able to join the Chatham-Kent municipal team and look forward to sharing our stories with the community we serve,” Blake said.
