A vigilant citizen report of suspicious activity paid off early this morning with an arrest for theft.
Early this morning, a concerned citizen saw two men washing down a white Ford truck inside and out with spray bottles. This seemed odd due to the time of night and the witness contacted Chatham-Kent Police to investigate. Police located the vehicle with one male occupant and were able to confirm it was stolen. The license plates on the vehicle were also stolen and belonged to a Chevy truck.
Upon searching the stolen vehicle, property matching items taken in a break and enter were discovered. The 25 year old Chatham man was arrested and charged with possession of stolen property over $5000 and possession of stolen property under $5000. Future charges may also be pending upon completion of the investigation.
