Highway 401 eastbound will be down to one lane today near Queen’s Line after a tractor trailer rolled early this morning.
Around 2:00 a.m., a Chatham-Kent OPP officer came across the collision while on general patrol on Highway 401 near Queens Line.
Investigation indicated that a westbound tractor trailer had rolled onto its side and came to rest in the centre median, partially blocking the westbound passing lane.
Highway 401 westbound was temporarily closed in order to accommodate emergency crews and the Ministry of Environment cleanup crews.
The two male occupants of the transport truck were taken to the hospital where they were treated for their minor injuries. The 53-year-old male driver of Ajax has been charged with careless driving contrary to the Highway Traffic Act.
Highway 401 eastbound will be reduced to one lane for several hours today to allow for the safe removal of the vehicle.
