A West Lorne man is in police custody after a fight involving knives in Chatham.
On Tuesday, shortly before 5:00 p.m. police were called to a disturbance on Harvey Street. A West Lorne man went there and a fight began outside between two men known to each other. As the West Lorne man, who was in possession of two knives ran towards the Chatham man in an aggressive manner, the Chatham man hit him in an attempt to protect himself from getting stabbed. The knives were wrestled away from the man as police were called.
The 45-year-old Chatham man sustained minor injuries.
The 45-year-old West Lorne man was transported to the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance for medical attention. He was later transferred to a hospital in London for further medical treatment.
Yesterday, the West Lorne man was released from hospital and arrested. He has been charged with uttering threats, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, assault with a weapon and breach of probation. He was transported to the court house pending a bail hearing.
