Shortly after 6:00 p.m. last night, police received information about a possible impaired driver travelling southbound into Blenheim.
An officer located the vehicle on Communication Road south of Talbot Trail and immediately initiated a traffic stop.
The man had a bottle of beer in the cup holder next to him in the centre console and was alone in the vehicle
Through investigation, the officer believed the man was driving his vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and he was arrested.
The man was transported to police headquarters for breath tests.
A 54-year-old Shrewsbury man has been charged with having a blood alcohol concentration exceeding the legal limit.
He was released pending a future court date of February 19, 2016.
