police cuffs

Just a typical Thursday in Chatham-Kent. Police tracked down a couple of local men for past actions, or inactions.

One man, police say, skipped court in November after being released from custody at the end of September in connection with theft and possession of stolen property.

On Thursday, police found the man and slapped on a new set of steel bracelets.

A 23-year-old Wallaceburg man remains in custody until he faces a bail hearing.

Also on Thursday, police scooped up a man they say failed to comply with release conditions.

On Jan. 5, police released him from custody, with several conditions, including not to contact a specific Chatham woman, either directly or indirectly. Three days later, police say the man used social media to contact a friend of the woman, asking that person to pass the message on the woman he was not supposed to communicate with.

Yesterday, police picked up Mr. Facebook, a 27-year-old Tilbury man. He faces charges of failing to comply.

He was released with a court date next week. No word on whether he’s back on social media yet, however.
