Chatham-Kent police arrested and charged three local residents with impaired driving with a two hour pedio last night.
The first incident took place around 9:30 p.m. when an officer on general patrol on Duke Street in Chatham observed a vehicle in the middle of the road with no lights or license plates. The officer initiated a traffic stop and through investigation formed the opinion that the man was driving his car while under the influence of alcohol. A roadside test was administered and the man failed. The man was arrested and transported to police headquarters for further breath tests.
A 35-year old Charteris Street man has been charged with having a blood alcohol concentration exceeding the legal limit.
A half hour later police received information about a possible impaired driver leaving the Via Rail parking lot on Queen Street in Chatham. Around 10:30 p.m. an officer located the vehicle travelling westbound on Tecumseh Line and observed the driver leaving the roadway onto the shoulder multiple times. The officer initiated a traffic stop and through investigation believed the woman was operating her SUV while under the influence of alcohol. The woman was arrested and transported to police headquarters for further breath tests.
A 49-year-old woman from Island Crescent in Tilbury has been charged with having a blood alcohol concentration exceeding the legal limit.
At 11:30 p. m. an officer on general patrol observed a vehicle swerving all over Erie Street South in the Ridgetown area. The officer initiated a traffic stop and through investigation believed the man was driving his vehicle while under the influence of alcohol. The man was arrested and transported to police headquarters for breath tests.
A 36-year-old man from Sydenham Street in Howard Township has been charged with having a blood alcohol concentration exceeding the legal limit.
All three were released pending a court date of December 8.
