The Chatham-Kent Fire Department responded to a possible explosion at Meritor Suspension Systems Company in Chatham Monday afternoon around 1 p.m.
Once firefighters arrived, there was reported to be a haze of black smoke coming from the building.
Workers evacuated the building and firefighters proceeded inside to search for the source of the smoke.
The amount of damage and a cause are not yet available.
