Last night around 8:20 p.m. a male youth entered Subway on Keil Drive in Chatham. The youth approached the counter with his face concealed and demanded money while brandishing a knife. The employee turned over an undisclosed amount of cash and the youth fled the area in a vehicle. The employee was not injured.
An observant citizen witnessed the youth driving away and provided police with a description of the car and licence plate. Through investigation, the youth was identified and arrested around 1:00 a.m. this morning.
The 17-year-old Chatham youth has been charged with robbery and being in possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
