Accident leaves woman fighting for her life

Shortly after 8:30 a.m. this morning, emergency crews responded to a motor vehicle collision on St. George Street between Queen Street and Main Street in Dresden.

A Chevrolet Malibu was travelling southbound on St. George Street when the driver struck an elderly pedestrian crossing the roadway.

The pedestrian, a 76-year-old Dresden woman, sustained life-threatening injuries. She was transported to the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance where she was stabilized and transferred to London.

The driver, a 64-year-old Chatham Township woman, was not injured.

The Chatham-Kent Police Traffic Unit is currently investigating this collision. Anyone who may have witnessed the collision is asked to contact Const. Jason Herder at 519-355-1092.
