Tuesday just after 4:30 p.m., Chatham-Kent Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers, Chatham-Kent Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and Chatham-Kent Fire Services responded to a motor vehicle collision involving a Volvo tractor trailer on Highway 401 eastbound, near Queens Line.

The collision occurred when the tractor trailer left the roadway and rolled, coming to rest in the south ditch. The 54-year-old male driver from Flamborough Township, Ontario, was taken to a local hospital and subsequently airlifted to another hospital shortly thereafter.

The OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigation (TTCI) team attended at scene to assist with the investigation.

The driver is reported to have non-life threatening injuries at this time.

The highway was closed eastbound for several hours and reopened a short time ago this morning.
