An industrial accident yesterday afternoon in Chatham has the Ministry of Labour investigating.
Chatham-Kent emergency personnel responded to a Richmond Street business afternoon. Police say they arrived to fine one man unconscious. He and another man began feeling nauseous, according to police, while working near a propane-powered forklift.
The one man vomited and then passed out. A co-worker called 911 and the workplace was evacuated.
An air test revealed levels of hydrogen cyanide and carbon monoxide, which police say is what caused the workers to become ill.
The two men were taken to hospital for observation, and were treated for poisoning.
Police say businesses in the area were evacuated and the Ministry of Labour came to investigate.
