The search for fresh faces for the Chatham Concert Band begins tonight.

The band will hold open auditions tonight and March 10 inside the band shell in Tecumseh Park from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

The concert band is looking for brass, woodwind, percussion and keyboard players, with special needs for clarinets, percussion and keyboard percussion instruments.

“Although no formal music training is required, the ability to read music is essential,” said Vaughn Pugh, the bandmaster, in a media release.

The band, which has been operating for 87 continuous years, performs free weekly public concerts all summer in Tecumseh Park. The rest of the year, they perform at events and venues throughout the community.

Over the years, the band has performed for the Queen of England, various Prime Ministers, Ontario premiers, at the Canadian National Exhibition and at Comerica Park.

To arrange an audition, please contact Vaughn at 519-436-1150. Appointments are encouraged, but not required. Alternate audition dates available if required.
