Credit a babysitter for thwarting a dinner-hour break-in attempt Thursday.
Police say a man entered a Gray Street home through an unlocked window about 6 p.m. last night, getting as far as the kitchen where the babysitter confronted the man and he fled on foot.
Officers investigated and identified the man. Shortly after 10 p.m. police found their suspect on Princess Street and made the arrest.
A 33-year-old Chatham man is charged with break and enter and possession of property obtained by crime.
