With just three days to go until the 2014 United Way campaign wraps up, the fundraising effort needs one final push to reach its goal.

As of Tuesday morning, the United Way of Chatham-Kent reported it was only $43,000 shy of its $1.9-million goal.

“To be this close is frustrating. I’m still hopeful we’ll get there, but I think we’ll be kicking and scratching right up until deadline,” Dean Muharrem, co-chair of the campaign, said.

The United Way is reaching out to any traditional donors who have not yet come forward to please do so, and urges others to help them reach their target.

It would take only 120 Everyday Heroes, people who donate $1 a day over the course of a year, for the campaign to cross its finish line.
