Thieves made off with about $300 in copper wire recently from the Hydro One yard on Maple Leaf Drive in Chatham.
Police say sometime between 4 p.m. Oct. 2 and 7:30 a.m. Oct. 6, someone forced their way into the yard and stole about 60 feet of the wire.
Damage to the compound is estimated at $1,000, more than three times the value of the copper stolen.
