A man called 911 last night to ask police for assistance in getting home.

Police say the man was intoxicated and walking along Colborne Street in Chatham about 7:30 p.m. last night, at the time of the call.

Officers tracked the man down near William Street and took him into custody for his own safety, police say.

A 60-year-old Chatham man was charged with being intoxicated in a public place and was released when he sobered up.
