Merlin Area Public School took top spot in the municipality’s 2014 Cultivating Neighbourhoods Grant Program (CNGP).

The school received a grant of $2,500 to be put towards an outdoor ecological classroom.

It earned top spot by receiving 37.5% of the online votes for the first round of CNGP. Groups planning neighbourhood improvement projects this year were invited by the municipality to apply for funding assistance.

Voting began June 30 and ended July 13.

The Tilbury Centennial Pool Artist Squad placed second, earning a $1,500 grant for its plans to repaint the mural at the pool.

Buxton’s Next Generation received $1,000 for community park benches.
