Emergency services personnel prepare to transport the body of a 14-year-old boy after he was discovered in the water off the beach in Erieau early Sunday morning.

Chatham-Kent police have ruled out foul play in the death of a 14-year-old boy on the weekend in Erieau.

The boy’s body was taken to London Health Sciences Centre for a post-mortem after being discovered in the water off the beach in the South Kent community early Sunday morning.

The results of the autopsy did not indicate foul play was a factor.

Police say they initially received a report of a missing teen in the village of Erieau last Saturday night. Residents, personnel from Chatham-Kent Fire Station 14 and police searched the area in a co-ordinated effort.

Shortly after 1 a.m., the boy’s body was discovered and recovered in the water.

Police say the investigation is ongoing and ask that anyone with any information that could assist officers in piecing together what happened to contact Det. Const. Dan Hamilton at 519-436-6600 ext. 284.

At the request of family, police are not releasing the boy’s name at this time.
