Chatham-Kent police picked up a suspect Sunday in connection with an ATM robbery earlier this month in Chatham.
On May 2, a Chatham man was at the CIBC on Richmond Street to deposit cash when a man, whom police say is known to the victim, approached him for a cigarette. As the man pulled the cigarette out of his pocket, he also pulled out his envelope of money.
Police say the other man slapped the money out of the victim’s hand, pushed him out of the way, scooped up the cash and rode away on the victim’s bike.
On Sunday, police charged a 32-year-old Raleigh Township man after tracking him down in the Prince and Kirk streets area. He faces a charge of robbery.
