The Chatham-Kent Museum is hosting a lecture by archaeologist Derek Lincoln March 7 at 1:30 p.m.
Owner of the archaeological consulting firm Bluestone Research, and one of the archaeologists that worked in Tecumseh Park during the summer of 2013, Lincoln will be giving a brief intro into Mayan archaeology. The lecture, entitled “Water Manipulation: A Key to Power in Pre-Hispanic Honduras,” will be followed by a discussion about a project in which he was involved.
Lincoln is a consultant archaeologist from Toronto. He received a track scholarship to the University of South Florida where he studied history and anthropology, specializing in Mesoamerican archaeology.
He then expanded his interest and completed a Masters in Mediterranean archaeology at the University of Bristol in the U.K., focusing on Hellenistic influence on Persian culture.
You may recognize him from the History Channel original series “Chasing Mummies” where he starred as one of the archaeological researchers working for Egyptologist Zahi Hawass.
Lincoln has worked on archaeological projects in the U.S., Mexico, Belize, Honduras, England, Sweden, Turkey and Egypt.
