As part of the celebration of Black History Month in Chatham-Kent, “Wade in the Water” will take place Saturday night.
The concert, which takes place at 7 p.m. at St. Andrew’s United Church, will portray the history of spirituals in sacred and secular culture through song and spoken word.
The church’s Chancel Choir, directed by Devon Hansen, will provide the music. There will be guest soloists from Windsor and Detroit.
Bryan and Shannon Prince will provide narration to tell the stories of slaves who escaped to a life of freedom in our area, focusing on the relevance of spirituals in their lives.
There will be a free will offering at this concert, which kicks of the church’s 2014 series Saturdays.
