The Chatham Cement Man Petite U-12 A Thunder snagged a hard-fought silver at the Waterloo Winterfest tournament over the weekend.

Nepean topped an injury-depleted Chatham squad in the final 3-0.

The Thunder opened round robin play with a 5-0 win over host Waterloo Gold. Courtney Legere had a hat trick. Erica Anderson and Emile Newman had solo markers.

Legere had two more goals in the Thunder’s next match, while Newman added a single as Chatham fell 4-3 to Nepean.

Audrey McKay-Barr picked up her second shutout of the tournament against Waterloo Black, as Chatham won 2-0. Legere and Newman again scored for Chatham.

The Thunder finished up round robin play with a 3-2 nail biter against Metcalfe. McKay-Barr stoned a Metcalfe attacker, who came in on a breakaway with just eight seconds remaining in that one.

Natasha Anderson powered Chatham with two goals, while Legere added the other marker.
