The local residential real estate market was down overall in 2013, but it ended on a high note.
According to the Chatham-Kent Association of Realtors, sales in December were up 64% from December 2012.
For the year, however, sales were down 5% from 2012.
According to association president Ron Smith, the strong December, plus a solid spring and summer, couldn’t offset the weak points for the rest of the year.
The average price of a home in Chatham-Kent is just under $150,000, according to the association.
