Chatham-Kent police were out before dark New Year’s Eve, conducting RIDE spot checks in Chatham-Kent, and it appears their pre-party, high-visibility effort paid off.

Police report no one was charged with impaired that night. Chatham-Kent officers set up numerous RIDE checks in Chatham, Wallaceburg, Dresden, Tilbury, Blenheim and Ridgetown, stopping an estimated 600 vehicles.

Police say they administered just one roadside breath test and issued one ticket all night.

Below, Const Ted Krantz, Sgt. Mike Domony and Const. Ken Muir check drivers heading westbound Dec. 31 on Grand Avenue West in Chatham just after 5 p.m. Dec. 31.

Chatham-Kent police remind people not to drink and drive.
