The flags were at half staff and the mood was somber at the Civic Centre on Monday, after Chatham-Kent lost a colleague over the weekend.
Rudy Ciarma was killed in a crash on Queen’s Line on Saturday.
He was 37.
Chatham-Kent Mayor Randy Hope began Monday’s council meeting with a tribute to the man, who worked in customer service at the Civic Centre. A moment of silence was also held.
“He was the welcoming mat for this community and for this centre,” Hope said. “I cannot describe him enough.”
Hope added Ciarma always greeted him in the morning with a smile.
Hope did not mention Ciarma’s name during his remarks, “out of respect for his family.”
Our sincere condolences to the family
Oh man:(
