Chatham-Kent police are on the lookout for a suspicious man, and they’d like your help.

Police say just before 4 p.m. Sunday, two young boys were playing outdoors in the Raleigh and Wellington streets area when a man approached them on a bicycle.

According to police, the man didn’t say anything to the boys, but rode close and apparently tried to grab the kids. He rode away on his bike without making physical contact with the lads.

The man was last seen southbound on Raleigh Street.

The boys immediately returned home and reported the incident to their parents, who called police. Officers investigated, but didn’t find the suspect.

The man is described as dark skinned, approximately 40-50 years of age, with short gray hair. He was last seen wearing blue jeans, a black leather coat and gray winter hat.

Anyone with information regarding the identity of this man is asked to contact Const. Wayne Plaquet at 519-436-6600, ext. 87040 or 519-436-6600 ext. 222.

Police encourage parents to discuss “Stranger Danger” with their children, to ensure they know what to do if they are approached by a person who is unknown to them.
