Chatham-Kent Police clocked a speeder blazing along Talbot Trail Monday doing 140 km/h in a 60 km/h zone and took off in pursuit.

Police say officers called off the chase for safety reasons after identifying the vehicle. They add the driver soon abandoned the car, but was nabbed by police a short while later walking along the roadway.

A 41-year-old Leamington man faces charges of stunt driving, driving while under suspension and failing to stop for police.

  1. Seize the car and sell it. Use the proceeds to boost the police budget or put it aside for victim aid. This is not speeding – 80Km above the speed limit, this is lunacy and in my opinion, intent to commit bodily harm.

  2. some people just like to feel the speed, outside of nascar or illegal street races.
see, if its a paved road with no chance of people crossing the road on country blocks, it's kind of hard NOT to speed.
but i will say this, i got a big ass speeding ticket, and i havent sped since.
