Big Brother is paying dividends, according to the Chatham-Kent Police Service.

Officers resolved a pair of investigations recently with the aid of CCTV footage from Chatham and Dresden.

The first incident involved an assault in Chatham. Police say they didn’t initially know the identity of the alleged offender.

As a result, the Major Crime team got involved.

Based on information provided by the complainant, officers accessed CCTV footage, and were quickly able to identify the suspect’s vehicle and license plate number.

And that led to the suspect’s identification and apprehension.

Police say without the CCTV technology, it would have taken a much longer time to track down the suspect.

The report of a missing youth in Dresden also relied on CCTV footage to focus on the search for the youth.

Police say the footage aided investigators in determining what direction the youth travelled, and allowed officers to better focus their geographical search.
