B&E arrest
A man who police say reported a crime is being charged for it.
On Wednesday morning, shortly before 7 a.m., Chatham-Kent police received two complaints of something fishy at a property on St. Clair Street near Grand Avenue in Chatham.
Officers attended and found the door to a vacant apartment located above a business had been kicked in.
As the officers investigated, finding evidence at the scene and using the comments made by the person who reported the matter, they surmised the caller had been the one responsible for the damage.
A 48-year-old Chatham man is charged with break and enter.
Traffic stop leads to drug charges
As most of us slept early Thursday morning, police were arresting two locals.
At 3:50 a.m., a patrol officer conducted a traffic stop on Park Street in Chatham.
The officer discovered a woman in the vehicle, bound by curfew conditions, was in breach of a release order by being outside during her curfew period.
Through further investigation, the officer found a male occupant in possession of a controlled substance.
A 27-year-old Blenheim woman is charged with failing to comply with a release order.
A 25-year-old Chatham man is charged with possession of a controlled substance – methamphetamine.
