A Chatham man had a rough night and will have to answer for his actions, according to Chatham-Kent police.

Officers were called to a residence on Thornhill Crescent shortly before 11 p.m. for an assault investigation.

Police say the officers arrived on scend and found a man in the garage yelling and destroying property.

However, the man then threatened the officers and charged at them, police say, and the officers had to use a Taser to help take him into custody.

Further investigation revealed prior to police arrival the man had been arguing with his 17-year-old daughter. The altercation escalated when he assaulted her as she attempted to remove herself from the situation, police say.

A 49-year-old Chatham man was transported to police headquarters, where he was held until he was sober. He is charged with assault and assault a peace officer.
