Rage on the road

A Monday morning disagreement inside a vehicle led to charges against a Wallaceburg man.

Chatham-Kent police were called shortly after 7:30 a.m. for the incident on Centre Side Road.

A man and woman were arguing while travelling, and the woman tried to call police, and that’s when a struggle ensued and the man assaulted the woman, police say.

The woman was able to get out of the vehicle and complete her call.

As police investigated, they learned the man was on a on a conditional sentence order, with a condition prohibiting him from associated with the woman.

A 34-year-old Wallaceburg man was located and arrested. He is charged with two counts of assault.

Bicycle built for arrest

An attempt to flee on a bicycle from police didn’t go so well for a Chatham man Monday evening.

Officers responded to a disturbance call on Talbot Street East in Blenheim about 7 p.m. They learned a man and woman had been arguing.

As they drove up, they saw the man trying to flee on a bicycle. The chase was a short one.

Officers also confirmed he was wanted on outstanding warrants in relation to other investigations this year.

A 21-year-old Chatham man faces charges of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, flight from police, five counts of possession of stolen property over $5,000, five counts of possession of stolen property under $5,000 and five counts of theft under $5,000.
