Once again, the community of Wallaceburg comes through to support its hospital.
This time it’s the Sydenham District Hospital Auxiliary stepping up with a $100,000 pledge backing the Our Hospital, Our Future Wallaceburg Site Redevelopment Project.
Chatham-Kent Health Alliance Foundation president and chief executive officer Christine Mitchell called the pledge a “testament to the hard work of all these wonderful volunteers, and to the auxiliary’s unwavering dedication to advancing healthcare in the Wallaceburg community.”
In a media release, Mitchell said the funds will go towards the $9 million that needs to be raised as part of the community’s share of the ongoing redevelopment of the Wallaceburg site.
The auxiliary made its first contribution towards the pledge with a $35,000 instalment on June 24. Volunteers were joined by foundation representatives at CKHA’s Wallaceburg campus for the cheque presentation.
Auxiliary chair Mari Cole said a “small and mighty” group of volunteers is passionate about the community and its hospital.
“We are proud to support such a worthy cause and look forward to a bright future for local health care here in Wallaceburg,” Cole said.
Established in 1957, the Sydenham District Hospital Auxiliary has a long history of supporting health care needs.
