Warrant arrests in Leamington

Chatham-Kent police received a 3 a.m. phone call Wednesday. Leamington OPP were on the line advising CKPS they had a man and woman in custody who were wanted on CKPS warrants.

The woman was wanted for failing to attend court in relation to weapon and drug offences in 2021.

The man was wanted for bail violations and weapon offences in 2021.

A 27-year-old Comber man and a 31-year-old Windsor woman were transported to police headquarters where they were held pending a bail hearing.

The man is currently facing the following charges: unauthorized possession of a weapon and two counts of failing to comply with an undertaking.

The woman is currently facing the following charges: failing to comply with an undertaking, failing to attend court, unauthorized possession of a weapon, possession of a controlled substance, and possession of a controlled substance with the purpose of trafficking.

Skipped court dates R us

It began at 9:10 a.m. Tuesday and continued throughout the day and into early Wednesday morning: the arrest of people who missed their court date in Chatham.

For starters, a man walked into Chatham-Kent police headquarters to answer to his failure to make a court date.

Police say the man was wanted for failing to make a scheduled court appearance in relation to several shoplifting investigations.

A 27-year-old Chatham man was released with a future court date and face charges of public intoxication, two counts of failing to comply with a release order, four counts of possession of stolen property and four counts of theft.

About 10 minutes later, Middlesex OPP contacted C-K police, advising they had a man in custody who was wanted on a CKPS warrant.

The man was wanted for failing to attend court in relation to impaired driving charges.

A 44-year-old Wardsville man faces charges of impaired driving and having a blood alcohol concentration exceeding the legal limit.
Shortly before 1 p.m., officers located a man behind a business on Keil Drive South in Chatham, and confirmed he was wanted on an outstanding warrant for failing to make a scheduled court appearance in relation to a bail violation and theft investigation.

A 45-year-old Chatham-Kent man was held pending a bail hearing. Is charged with obstructing police, two counts of failing to comply with a release order and two counts of theft.

Shortly after midnight, police spotted a woman on Grand Avenue East in Chatham. The woman was wanted on an outstanding warrant for failing to attend court in relation to a probation violation investigation.

A 44-year-old Chatham-Kent woman now has a future court date.

Bail violation 

At 9:30 p.m., a woman walked into police headquarters to turn herself in.

The woman was wanted on an outstanding warrant for not complying with release conditions.

A 19-year-old Chatham woman faces two counts of failing to comply with an undertaking.
