Booze thieves break into restaurant

Sometime Monday night, someone got into a Chatham restaurant, breaking in through a glass door, and taking about $150 in alcohol.

Police are still investigating at the restaurant, which police say is located near the intersection of Pioneer Line.

Impaired charge

A Chatham man faces impaired charges in connection with a Monday night investigation.

Police received reports of a vehicle nearly striking a median and swerving into oncoming traffic about 9:30 p.m. Monday evening.

Officers located the vehicle in question shortly thereafter and pulled it over.

Through investigation, the officer believed that the man was operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of drugs, and he was arrested.

A 23-year-old Chatham man is been charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence of drug(s).

It was also learned that there was an outstanding warrant for his arrest; the warrant was executed, and he was held for bail pending a hearing before a judge.
