A history of violence

A local man faces charges after Chatham-Kent police say someone assaulted a woman on Emma Street in Chatham Thursday evening.

Police got the call shortly before 6:20 p.m.

Officer learned the man and the woman were arguing, but things escalated when the man assaulted the woman, police say. The officer also learned of a similar incident that occurred a few days prior.

A 52-year-old Chatham-Kent man was arrested for assault causing bodily harm and two counts of assault.

Bail violations

Police responded to Wellington Street West in Chatham Thursday evening for a trespassing investigation.

Officer located two men on the property. One man was wanted on an outstanding warrant for bail violations. The other was moved along.

A 32-year-old Chatham-Kent man was arrested and transported to police headquarters where he was held pending a bail hearing. He is currently facing the following charges: failing to attend court, and two counts of failing to comply with a release order.

Theft arrest

Shortly before noon on Thursday, police located the man on King Street West in Chatham and confirmed he was wanted on an outstanding warrant in a theft investigation.

A 38-year-old Chatham man is charged with theft, possession of stolen property and failing to attend court.

Probation situation

At 10:35 a.m. Thursday, police responded to King Street for a probation violation investigation.

Upon arrival, officers learned the man attempted to contact a person listed on a communication prohibition condition, police say.

The man was located a short distance away and arrested. Upon a search incident to arrest, the man was found in possession of ammunition.

A 28-year-old Chatham-Kent man was arrested and transported to police headquarters, where he was held pending a bail hearing. He is currently facing the following charges: possession of a firearm/ammunition contrary to a prohibition order, and five counts of failing to comply with a probation order.

Another probation problem

Shortly after 4 p.m. Thursday, police conducted a well-being check on a woman walking on Murray Street in Chatham.

Officers located the woman and confirmed she was wanted on an outstanding warrant in a mischief investigation.

A 30-year-old Chatham-Kent woman is currently facing the following charges: theft, resist arrest, two counts of mischief, and two counts of failing to comply with a probation order.
