It was a weekend of violence, it seems, in Chatham-Kent. And that’s not including what occurred overnight in Chatham’s downtown that still has Tecumseh Park roped off in crime scene tape.
On Sunday morning, Chatham-Kent police responded to Talbot Street West in Blenheim for an assault investigation.
Investigation revealed a man and the victim are currently involved in a civil dispute with each other. Prior to the call to the police, the man forced entry into the victim’s home and assaulted him, causing minor physical injury, police say.
A 55-year-old man was located a short time later and arrested. He was transported to police headquarters and charged with break and enter, and assault.

The residents of a Tweedsmuir Avenue home in Chatham woke in the early morning hours and found a young man sitting in a bedroom in their house.
The homeowners were startled, police say.
The youth was taken out of the house, and a fight broke out. The scrap continued until officers arrived on scene, police say.
A Chatham youth faces charges of break and enter and assault. He was released into the custody of his parents and given a future court date.

A woman used bear spray on another woman on Saturday in Wallaceburg, police say, and is facing charges.
Police say the two began arguing over a man. That argument escalated and one of the women pulled out the bear spray and used it on the other.
A 34-year-old Wallaceburg woman is charged with assault with a weapon and applying a noxious substance.

A Chatham man faces assault and mischief charges after an altercation on Princess Street in Chatham Friday.
Police say the man, 40, and woman, 43, got into it inside a residence, but it spilled outside as each damaged the other’s vehicle.
Officers arrived, investigated, charged both with mischief, and also charged the man for assault.
