Credit-Union

Two regional credit unions are talking merger.

Lambton Financial and Mainstreet credit unions announced recently they are in formal discussions to join forces.

“Together our credit unions share a common goal of providing our community members with a more human and personalized approach to financial services,” said Mainstreet Credit Union CEO Janet Grantham said in a release.

The corporate headquarters for the merged credit unions would be in Sarnia, with regional offices in Chatham and Strathroy.

All 13 branch locations of both credit unions would remain open to serve 20,000 members.

If a deal is worked out and approved by the membership, the proposed merger date is May 31.
