Woman charged with domestic assault
A woman charged with assault early Wednesday morning apparently wasn’t happy for being detained.
Shortly before 1 a.m., police responded to a home on King Street East in Chatham.
Upon arrival, police located a man and woman. Through investigation, the officer formed grounds to arrest the woman for assaulting the man. She was arrested and transported to police headquarters.
While in police custody, the woman caused damage to a holding cell, police say.
A 21-year-old Chatham woman was charged with assault, uttering threats, and mischief.
Domestic assault
A Thamesville man turned himself in to answer to charges following a number of altercations with a woman.
Back in January, the court released the man with conditions after being charged with several intimate partner violence offences. The conditions prohibited him from communicating with or attending any place where the victim was known to live, work, or go to school.
On Nov. 22, police learned that the man had breached these conditions over the past couple of months since his release. Officers also learned on Nov. 14, the man and the victim engaged in an argument that resulted in the man assaulting the victim again, police say. When the man could not be located, a warrant was issued for his arrest.
On Tuesday morning, the man turned himself in to the police.
A 26-year-old Thamesville man is charged with mischief, uttering threats, two counts of assault and two counts of failing to comply with an undertaking. He was held pending a bail hearing.
Skipped court date
In mid-June, a woman was required to make a court appearance in relation to being charged with fraud and obstructing a peace officer. When she failed to appear, a warrant was issued for her arrest.
On Tuesday, police say the woman was in a parking lot on Wellington Street West in Chatham when spotted by an officer. The officer confirmed the woman was wanted on an outstanding warrant, and she was arrested.
A 32-year-old Chatham woman has been charged with obstructing a peace officer, transportation fraud and failing to attend court. She was transported to police headquarters and held pending a bail hearing.
Bail violations
An early morning bike ride did not end well for a Chatham man.
Then again, when you have an overnight curfew, a bike ride at 4:30 a.m. can cause you some troubles.
On Wednesday morning, shortly after 4:30 a.m., an officer on patrol spotted a man riding a bicycle on Kirk Street in Chatham. The officer recognized the man from previous interactions and confirmed the man was bound by a curfew.
The man was stopped, and the curfew was confirmed. The man was prohibited from being outside his residence between 11 p.m. and 7 a.m.
When the officer attempted to arrest the man, police say he resisted. He was taken into custody and transported to police headquarters.
A 41-year-old Chatham man was charged with failing to comply with an undertaking and resisting arrest. He remains in custody.

It seems a great deal happens in the wee hours of the morning in Chatham-Kent, and much of it is not good. That includes a spat at around 4:30 a.m. on King Street West in Chatham.

A 28-year-old Chatham woman was charged with facilitating a breach of an undertaking. She was transported to police headquarters and is currently in custody.
A 29-year-old Chatham man was charged with breach of an undertaking and assault causing bodily harm. He was transported to police headquarters and held pending a bail hearing.
