Dogged determination leads to arrest

A Wallaceburg man faces assault charges after he went to get his dog Sunday evening.

Chatham-Kent police say they were called about 9:30 p.m. Sunday to a home on Talbot Trail near Blenheim for a disturbance.

Officers learned that a man attended the home to retrieve his pet. He forcefully entered the house, pushing past an individual on his way in and out causing them to lose their balance, police say.

The man was found a short distance away and arrested.

A 42-year-old Wallaceburg man was charged with assault.

B&E arrest

An attempted burglary Sunday night ended with a man behind bars.

Police say they responded to a break and enter in progress at Northern Elements on Garnet Street in Wallaceburg.

When they arrived, witnesses gave the officers a description of the man and what direction he was headed. Officers located the man running away from the scene and took him into custody.

A 32-year-old Wallaceburg man was charged with break and enter. He was transported to police headquarter and held pending a bail hearing.
RIDE check leads to impaired charge

A man faces impaired charges following a weekend RIDE check in Chatham.

Police spoke with the driver at the check and believed he was under the influence. He was arrested and taken for testing.

Police say the results showed him with 1.5 times the legal limit of alcohol in his blood.

Trailers rifled through

An alert trailer owner noticed something was amiss during a recent walk in Wilson Conservation Area.

The trailer portion of the park is closed for the season, but the owner spotted the fact several trailers had been entered recently.

Alarm thwarts theft attempt            

A new building under construction on Grand Ave East had an alarm on the weekend.

Prior to Police arriving, a citizen observed several people leaving the area.

The building was cleared by responding officers. Nothing was taken and only a window was damaged.
