No one was injured in a morning house fire near Ridgetown.
According to Chatham-Kent fire officials, firefighters from Highgate and Ridgetown responded just after 7:30 a.m. to 13604 Golf Course Line. The teams arrived to see heavy smoke coming from all sides of the single-storey home.
All the house’s occupants were home at the time of the fire, and officials reported they escaped unharmed.
Meanwhile, the firefighters quickly put out the blaze and worked through the morning to clear smoke from the home and ensuring the fire had not spread into the attic.
Damage is estimated at $250,000, and the cause is ruled as accidental.
